Erin Schadt has some very nice things to say about As Above, So Below on her blog, The Comics Queen!
Seems to be quite a week for reviews!

William Gatevackes does a run-down of the entire series on music/culture site PopMatters!
(I’ve been reading PM regularly this past year or so, and I’ve found them a reliable source for a wide variety of music and books I’d otherwise probably not have heard about.)

This morning, as I went to grab a copy of ST:AASB for a gent who ordered some books via PayPal, I realized… that’s the last one! I am sold right out.
So since there’s no mountain of email demanding a reprint, I’m adding a PDF of “Rosa” to the site for your viewing pleasure. If you haven’t read STYX before, it’s a pretty good primer.

Ryan McLelland ladles out the praise in his column, “Your Indie Weekly” on Newsarama (though much of that praise should go to E.Bess, as it’s her story, “A Vita Coda,” he’s talking about in the middle of the piece).
For people coming to this site for the first time, check out both the FAQ and the plethora of preview pages!

Just because I’m working on the outline and script of the next book, all I’ve got to offer at the moment is fresh hype — though it’s nice hype:
A very nice full-series write-up on Ain’t It Cool News (scroll down a few reviews to find it); and a write-up of the new book in Rich Watson’s “Chicks and Romance” column on Comic World News.

For those folks hearing about STYX TAXI for the first time — via the Engine, Newsarama (thanks Troy!), Marc Mason’s column on Movie Poop Shoot, or anywhere else — here’s another reason to check the series out…
Dinner Date #9 in its entirety, in PDF format (4MB), free, gratis.
Rami and I were enormously proud poppas to see As Above, So Below in print at the Small Press Expo last month, so consider this a symptom of that pride.

(Not an auspicious site name to get high praise from, but Marc Mason’s “Should It Be A Movie?” column is actually a very well-written one that I look to for recommendations of comics I’d ordinarily stroll past…he has a discerning eye and ain’t afraid to slap around mediocre works, which goes a long way in my book. And I’m not just saying that because STYX is lucky enough to be a book he likes.)

E.Bess, that li’l go-getter, inspired me to finally do something new with this old place, in honor of a new STYX TAXI hitting the streets.
So! On with the basics!
Me: I’m Steven Goldman, your host for this evening (or day, or jaysus, where are you reading from?). I’m a 29-year-old writer living in Brooklyn, and for the past two years, I’ve been creating and producing comics with my brother under our shared imprint FWDbooks, among them a little series called STYX TAXI (read the FAQ).
I’m currently scripting the first STYX TAXI graphic novel, a work that’ll probably end up being between 150 and 200 pages (art again by Rami), and I wanted to set up a blog that could be a stray-thoughts catcher, a research blog for this book and beyond, and space for hype. I’m also going to make most of the STYX stories to date available on this site, and am aim to premiere some stories on the Web first and collect them in print later.
And that’s the biz.
